All dogs who are used for breeding should have the following health clearances:




Eyes (done yearly)

Below you will see examples of what an OFA (orthopedic Foundation for Animals) and a CERF (eye clearances) would look like. These certificates should be available from a reputable breeder, if they cannot give you copies of these for both parents you should be concerned. All breeding stock should be cleared for all of these inherited diseases, if they are not there could be a risk that your new puppy could have some or even all of these health issues.

OFA Heart clearance

CERF Eye clearance
